The par 71 Rusty Rail Golf Club was designed and built by John Reeves and opened in 1983. It was quickly recognized as one of the top 25 golf courses in Texas by the Dallas Morning News. Although the course has only 9 greens, there are four distinct tee boxes per hole which allows all players to enjoy a full 18 hole experience. For instance, a par 4 on the front changes to a par 5 on the back. A straight-away hole on the front becomes a fierce dogleg on the back. A simple, short part 3 on the front changes into a 227 yard par 3 over a rise that hides most of the green and only reveals the flagstick. The "Rail" has both left and right doglegs with hidden greens that will test your imagination and ball flight. Are you going to fade or draw the ball towards the green, go over the hazard straight at the green, or hit it safely, straight down the middle? Eleven of the 18 holes also involve water or a creek to either hit over or lay up to.
The Rusty Rail Golf Club is a public course with memberships available starting at $50 per month. During non-tournament weeks, every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, we play skins, handicap, team best ball or scramble formats at 10 am, Noon and 2 pm. Everyone with $10 to spare is welcome.
The Pro Shop has all of your golf needs except beer. Bring your own beer and bring enough to share.
The Club House has a banquet hall that is frequently the sight of weddings, birthdays, family reunions and poker. Check with the Pro Shop for party reservations. Show up on Thursday night at 7:30 pm for poker. Bring your quarters 'cause we don't play for dollars.
The golf course is located 6 miles north of Jefferson on Highway 59. Turn East on Prospect Road (look for Prospect Baptist Church) and proceed about one mile.
